Well, it's the week before Thanksgiving and as with any big event, it takes a bit of planning. Even if you aren't hosting the big meal or any gatherings, you still need to plan ahead...like in how you are going to handle the variety of palate temptations that will be in front of you next week. If you have extended family, you might have two or three dinners to attend and if you don't plan ahead, you may run into more than a few unwanted pounds :).
So over the next week I will be posting tips and ideas of how to thoroughly enjoy Thanksgiving and all it brings - especially the yummy comfort foods! A little planning and preparation - mentally and physically - will help you relax and indulge wisely.
For today I wanted to share a new idea for cranberry sauce. Even if you aren't hosting you may be asked to bring a side dish to the big feast so give this one a try!
Cranberry Sauce with a Twist
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
1/2 cup water
zest from 1 small orange
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
Truvia or stevia (to taste)
1/2 cup water
zest from 1 small orange
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
Truvia or stevia (to taste)
Directions:
1. Combine cranberries, water, and orange zest in a sauce
pan and boil gently until cranberries have popped and thickened.
2. Add Truvia to taste.
3. Add 1/4 teaspoon ginger, and stir for a couple of minutes. Taste, and
add more ginger if desired.
