Today's Tip: Thinking Ahead...Tip #2

Yesterday we talked about how you are going to view the Thanksgiving meal(s) as just A meal, not THE LAST meal you'll ever eat.  So now that you've made that decision what's next?

2. Plan to leave leftovers. Seriously, aren't leftovers are the best part about the Thanksgiving meal?  Okay, maybe not THE best, but one of them for sure! Consider cooking several healthy dishes in addition to the traditional options, or perhaps you modify some traditional favorites (like mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, or homemade cranberry sauce instead of the stuff out of the can). That way you've set yourself up for healthy eating the entire weekend. Leftover turkey can be used so many delicious ways, and ensuring that your Thanksgiving meal includes lots of cooked veggies will leave you with delicious sides to go with it.

And I think you might be surprised at how many people may appreciate having some healthier, lighter options to choose from.  Sometimes it's just a matter of someone not wanting to fix something different, but if the option is there they will choose it!

If you missed the yummy homemade cranberry sauce recipe I posted earlier this week, go back to the November 18 post and take a look!
